1st - The Climate
Sun, sun and... even more sun. The climate in Cascais is made up of autumns that feels like springs, winters that feel like autumns, springs that taste like summer and, of course, summers that are really summers, always hot. Therefore, it is the ideal destination for those who enjoy outdoor programs, enjoy nature and get to know one of the most beautiful municipalities in the country, always with a mild climate.
2nd - The Beaches
Cascais, on the west coast of Portugal, at the extreme point of Continental Europe, is a water playground area par excellence. On a 30 km long coastline, there are several beaches to choose from, some with wilder features and surrounded by a beautiful landscape of dunes and mountains, others closer to the town center and accessible on foot. Whatever the option, in addition to good swimming and sunbathing, there are a multitude of water sports that can be enjoyed.
3rd - The Trio Real
This is the name of the geographical link between Cascais, Lisbon and Sintra, the three of them 20 minutes apart. So, keeping the base in Cascais, and after exploring every corner and enjoying the good vibes of the village, it is possible to get in the car and understand why Lisbon is one of the European capitals of the moment and has been in the focus of the world, and still discover the mystical aura of a town full of romanticism called Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
 4th - The Agenda
Or rather, the busy schedule of events that take place every week in Cascais. Be it exhibitions, theater plays, music parties, gastronomic festivals, fairs and markets, sports competitions and nautical events - many of them with free entry -, the difficult thing is to catch a day off in the Cascais social calendar.
5th - The Historic Center
5 minutes from the house, restaurants, bars, shops and traditional market, very present in the village; there is the connection to the sea, the roots of a land (also) of fishermen and the bay from which boats leave every day for the high seas; and then there are the streets and alleys of the center, the fortress, museums and gardens. The sum of all the parts makes a very rich, beautiful historic center, with life and excitement from the first rays of the sun until, well, until the sun rises again.
6th - Golf
This home is perfectly located for the avid golfer, with four superb courses within 15 minutes of the front door. The closest is the oldest (1936) Estoril golf club which offers a beautiful and technically challenging round any day of the year. Almost equally close is Quinta Da Marinha, a project by Robert Trent Jones from 1984. This is primarily a golf course with spectacular views over the Atlantic that you won't forget after playing the 13th hole. Five minutes further west is Oitavos Dunes, which is a modern design with fast greens and a windswept links character after the first third of the course. And still about 15 minutes away, towards Sintra, there is also the Trent Jones-designed Penha Longa Golf, nestled in the mountains with a cooler climate for the hottest days.
7th - Museum District
Few destinations can boast an exclusive museum district. Cascais is proud - and with good reason. It currently has 16 museums, two urban parks and, even better news, they can all be visited on foot. The core includes old family houses turned into museums, palaces that belonged to royalty, buildings designed by Pritzker awards and a cultural center with constantly changing exhibitions. It will be difficult to choose where to start.
8th - Mobility
It is true that Cascais is a large municipality, and you can chose the car, train or bicycle to reach some distant points to fully explore the magic also in the quantity - and quality - of alternatives for a few hours or a day out. But much of what there is to explore can be done with both feet on the ground. Especially when it comes to the center of the village, where there are some beaches, gardens, many restaurants, exclusive shops, museums and other attractions. Locals do it, there's no reason to be different.
9th - Hospitality
The Portuguese are, in general, a hospitable people. Unrestrained at the time of talking to outsiders, proud to show off their little paradise planted by the sea. Now, add to that the fact that the people of Cascais live in an idyllic village, surrounded by nature, full of activities for people of all ages and discover people who really like to welcome those who come from abroad. Whether for a few days, for a season or for the rest of your life.
10th - Nature
Like many neighboring cities of capitals around the world, Cascais continues to be, no matter how much urban development it has, a point of contact with nature. This can be seen not only in urban gardens, but also in the magnificent Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, on the beautiful road that joins Cascais Marina to Guincho Beach, as well as in the various beaches. Breathing fresh air? It's in Cascais, without a shadow of a doubt
