Liberec Chateau represents the first brick building in this district town. It was rebuilt from the original manor house in the late Renaissance style by the lords of the Reder family. In the years 1602-1604, a beautiful chapel and the so-called Nostic wing were built. In the 18th century, during the time of the Count of Clam-Gallas, it was rebuilt into a classicist form. In the 19th century minor modifications were made in the romantic style and a four-sided tower was added to the castle.
This extensive castle complex is located right in the center of the city and is spread over 12,103 m2 of land. The castle offers over 4,800 m2 of used space. It is surrounded by a beautiful chateau park. This formerly purely private aristocratic residence was used as the seat of state institutions after confiscation in 1933. In the 1980s the chateau was expensively reconstructed, preserving the exterior, and used as a representative space for glass manufacturers with one of the most extensive glass exhibitions in the world. It now hosts regular annual Anifilm festivals.
