1. 3D printed concrete house in Beckum, Germany

A group of intellectual architects in Germany set out to accomplish more sustainable real estate in the name of affordable and cleaner living. That was when the idea of the country's first 3D printed house was born! Using the help of a unique 3D printing technology designed by Gira, a leading and award-winning supplier of technological engineering in Germany.

This 2-storey building has an interior layout that includes a spacious living room, a cozy fireplace, 3 separate bathrooms and living spaces to accommodate family members and guests.

2. Bio-plastic micro-home in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

This eight-square-metre urban cabin is made up solely of sustainably resourced bio-plastic. Constructed by Dutch architecture studio DUS Architects, this real estate is structured using deposition modelling, a form of additive manufacturing used in 3D printers to create geometric walls.

The interior of this Dutch cabin is perfect for individuals that prefer small living spaces; it provides enough room for a bed. A 3D printed bathing area just outside the cabin is built using the same materials.

3. TECLA in Ravenna, Italy

A successful project by Mario Cucinella Architects, TECLA celebrates the eco-friendly yet sustainable research of the School of Sustainability (founded by Mario Cucinella himself). In collaboration with WASP and the 3D-printed technology it entails, TECLA is an innovative real estate that speaks of new-age construction and the usage of local and sustainable materials.

The project is a pioneering state-of-art; this low-carbon housing is constructed from raw earth, making it a low-emission living space.

4. Casa Covida in Colorado, USA

One of the many creations that came about during the COVID-19 pandemic, Casa Covida is a living space perfect for co-habitation. Humble yet snuggly, this hut is made from 3D-printed adobe by Emerging Objects, an American architectural studio.

Located in the heart of San Luis Valley, this hut was designed to fit the living arrangements for 2 people during isolation. A three-axis SCARA (Selective Compliance Articulated Robot Arm) was used to print out the adobe walls of sand, silt, clay and water. Truly a home sourced from the simple elements of the earth!

5. Curve Appeal in Tennessee, USA

Planned and built over years of collaboration between Branch Technology and WATG, the world's first freeform 3D-printed home is made out of plastic, carbon fibre panels and tinted glazed windows.

This space-like home was naturally awarded first prize in the Freeform Home Design Challenge with its bold, minimalistic, sleek outlook. Curve Appeal challenges the potential of traditional 3D printing with its unique curvatures and quality structural integrity.
