Singapore, the Most Liveable City in Asia

Share:

Singapore most liveable city 2024As indicated by ECA International's latest annual location rating report, Singapore continues to hold its position as the most liveable city in Asia.

What are the characteristics of this small island city-state that sets it apart from other larger Asian countries?

1. Cultural Internationalization
2. Asia's Education Capital
3. World-renowned good security
4. A haven for investors

1. Cultural Internationalization

Singapore is a culturally diverse country mainly populated by Chinese, Malays, Indians, and Asian-Europeans.

Over the past 20 years, the country has been affected by globalization. Many expatriates have moved to this tiny state, making the Singaporean population more international and enriching the country's culture.

Both the children and adults here can communicate in at least two languages, so expatriates will have no communication issues when they visit.

Multiculturalism brings in different architectural styles and cuisines everywhere in Singapore, such as the Chinese-inspired Chinatown, exotic Little India, and the European and American-style Holland Village.

As a result, when expats come here, they will feel right at home.

Is there nothing special to eat in this small country? Wrong! The diversity of cultures here has contributed to national cuisines, so you can eat anything you can think of.

2. Asia's Education Capital

Don't underestimate the education in this small country; Singapore has another name: the "Education Capital of Asia". Its educational system is one of the most advanced in Asia and even in the world.

This country's universities are also well-known throughout the world. The National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University are ranked 11th and 19th, respectively, in the 2023 QS World University Rankings.

3. World-renowned good security

When it comes to Singapore, one must mention the country's strict policing. Singapore is famous worldwide for its excellent law and order, and according to the 2023 Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Safe Cities Index, Singapore is the second-safest city in the world, right after Tokyo.

This is due to the whipping punishment - the law has more than 30 different crimes punishable by whipping. The whip will be soaked in water overnight before the execution to absorb the water, which increases its flexibility fully. It will then be disinfected.

Executioners are specially trained - they're not only strong; some are combat or martial arts masters. The whipping punishment does not take in the victim's age or the severity of the crime. Usually, more than three whips will be shocked.

4. A haven for investors

Singapore's clean government, low taxes, stable political environment, and abundant highly qualified human resources have created a sound and stable financial mechanism. It attracts many foreigners to deposit and transfer funds to Singapore, transforming it into an asset haven for the wealthy and powerful.

Singapore has retained its position as the best business environment over the next five years, according to the EIU’s latest business environment rankings for the second quarter of 2023.

Singapore's financial sector continues to demonstrate resilience amid global challenges. In March 2023, while there was a temporary decline in foreign resident deposits, the Monetary Authority of Singapore maintains vigilant oversight to ensure stability. Notably, in April 2023, non-resident deposits surged by 44% to reach a record high of S$62.14 billion, reflecting growing confidence in Singapore's status as a premier financial hub.

Such a perfect financial system certainly brings confidence and stability to the local property market. This is why investment in Singapore properties will obtain a higher return on investment than other countries, not forgetting the appreciation and preservation in the long run. All these show why Singapore is such a famous choice for investment!
